I once worked in a restaurant where they chef would “Moo” at my every time I walked into the kitchen. Followed by mumbles of “here she goes grazing again,” they were not exactly flattering comments. The chef liked to poke fun at the fact that I was looking for food pretty much all of the time. And I couldn’t blame him. “Heck yeah I am looking for food dude, you make awesome food.” In all seriousness, he really was joking and made sure to check that I didn’t take any personal offense. ¬†Anyone who has worked in a restaurant before knows you have to have a bit of tough skin. If you haven’t worked in a restaurant, you’ve no doubt seen chef’s in action on one television show or another. While of course, television is very dramatized, the general demeanor of how chef’s are presented is spot on. It is hard work, running a restaurant. Food is very obviously the core of what makes or breaks a restaurant and when you’re the head chef your name, face, and reputation are on the line with every item of food. With all the factors involved, all the possible human error, and all the endless opinions and newly trending food allergies, it’s not a job I would soon sign up to have. Its only natural, with all the contributing factors that chef’s carry with them a certain demeanor and in turn, reputation. There are very specific things are endlessly making the job as a chef more difficult. Could you image, your work being scrutinized by differing people, pallets, and personalities every single minute of the work day!? No, thank you. I think my extensive restaurant experience is why this video really cracks me up. The video is well titled in that these things are literally NEVER SAID BY A HEAD CHEF. Please Enjoy:
